The Naked Emperor comes back to Kobayashi Hall on Sat, Oct. 4, 2008.
TNE comes back to Toronto, following the success of the its Nov 2007 premiere, for another exquisite evening of music and dance. Described by Showtime magazine as "enthusiastically received" and displaying a "vivid and outstanding energy", the show continues to explore its mandate: to showcase different expressions of truth as presented by a selection of gifted, well-established and promising artists. 'TNE' stands for 'The Naked Emperor', a term taken from a children's story about the importance of 'telling the truth'. This year, the concert theme is "Secret Truths".
Always in the pursuit of excellence, the creative team at TNE has produced a show that's even "bigger and better" than last year's. Be enchanted by the rich, golden tones of Soprano Susan Suchard, and the riveting grandeur of Tenor Jason Lamont, two of the TNE's main highlights. Pianist Yuka Koreeda will delight and charm you with her unforgettable performance of a selection of classical and contemporary pieces. Violinist Jinne Kim's playful yet sensitive performance will stir and awaken your spirit, while eclectic singer Francesca Blandizzi will open your heart with her uplifting and soothing originals. Also joining us this year, will be guitarist Phil Disera, a versatile performer of exceptional depth and insight. Don't miss this year's refreshing compositions by Jadely, the creative duo whose works were also presented in TNE 2007. Choreographer extraordinaire, Chantal Ferris, returns with her dancers to bring energy and grace to a show that continues to cross boundaries and inspire. Also performing that night will be composer-singer Hubert Razack, who will bring to the stage his fine, 'catchy' originals. The evening will be "MC'd" by storyteller Emiko Hsuen.
"The Naked Emperor 2008" continues to give back to the community by donating 50% of the show's profits to the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund. The Naked Emperor wishes to acknowledge the CMTTF's effort to promote the therapeutic power of music for children and adults alike. The CMTTF has been "providing services to those in hospitals, clinics and special schools" since 1994.
The TNE is proud to present its exciting array of high-calibre artists. Come out for a fun evening at The Naked Emperor! Let's make TNE a mainstay event of Toronto.
