The Naked Emperor Debuts at Kobayashi Hall on Sat, Nov. 24
Charity Concert - A Delectable Evening of Classical, Folk/Blues, World, Jazz Music & Dance
Join us for an unforgettable evening of talent, spanning four diverse genres of classical, folk/blues, world music and jazz.
The Naked Emperor is "a slice of life" showcasing different expressions of truth as presented by a selection of gifted, well-established and promising artists.
Come and take pleasure in the light, lyrical fingers of classical pianist Yuka Koreeda, or the soothing, yet rejuvenating originals sung by singer/songwriter Francesca Blandizzi. Enjoy the supple, bright tones of soprano Emiko Hsuen, and the hip yet elegant innovations of choreographer Chantal Ferris - as presented by dancers from the Woodbridge School of Dance. Be touched by the pure, resonating tones of up-and-coming baritone Alastair Smyth. Take comfort in the rich, stable and refined accompaniment of Megan Crane. Experience the colours, tints and hues of eclectic originals performed by composer Hubert Razack, and the 'tinkling ivories' of pianist Danny McErlain - one of the mainstays of Toronto's music scene for the past 30 years. Be captivated by the stirring renditions of one of Toronto's heavyweight jazz singers, Peggy Mahon. Don't miss out on this opportunity to savour, experience and support The Naked Emperor.
The Naked Emperor is a collaborative, artistic effort produced by: Allegria Musica, Em Creative Works, and Re: mind. Rather than wait for the opportunity, The Naked Emperor is all about creating it! The objective of this project is to establish an annual event that showcases artists of a high-calibre, while raising the profile of worthy non-profit charitable organisations in the Toronto community.
This year, 50% of the proceeds from The Naked Emperor will go to Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund. This organisation is a "bold, non-profit initiative designed to integrate, educate, celebrate and promote all facets of music therapy" in Canada. They have been "providing services to those in hospitals, clinics and special schools" since 1994.
